Vismaya – An Initiative to Support Kids from Martyr Families

The children of India’s martyrs carry not just the pain of loss, but also the weight of unfulfilled dreams, uncertainty, and the challenge of growing up without the presence and support of a brave parent. While various government and civil society initiatives offer compensation and symbolic recognition, the everyday needs—emotional, educational, and aspirational—of martyr families often remain unmet.

Our Vision

“Vismaya” is the name of martyr NSG commando Lt. Col. Niranjan E. Kumar’s daughter who was just 18 months old when she lost her father to a cowardly attack by Pakistani terrorists on the Pathankot airbase under the cover of darkness in 2016.

We have decided to call this project Vismaya to express our heartfelt commitment to ensure that the children of India’s heroes never walk alone. Our initiative aims to be the bridge that turns adversity into opportunity, so every martyr’s child can thrive, not just survive.

Objectives

  • Mentorship & Counseling: We pair each child with mentors—professionals, educators, or older students—to provide continuous guidance, motivation, and emotional support.
  • Customised Education Track: We facilitate scholarships, tutoring, and career counseling, assisting with admission processes and skilling opportunities tailored to the child’s interests and strengths.
  • Holistic Wellbeing: We organize workshops on mental health, self-confidence, and coping strategies, helping children and families navigate bereavement and societal expectations.
  • Celebrating Achievement: We recognize and showcase the talents and successes of these children on public platforms, breaking the cycle of perpetual victimhood and inspiring the country.

Impact

Through Vismaya, Viclique aspires to honor the legacy of India’s martyrs by empowering their children with hope, direction, and lasting opportunities. The initiative assures every child: “You are seen, you are valued, and your dreams matter as much as your parent’s sacrifice.”

For donor, volunteer, and school/college partnership opportunities, Viclique welcomes collaboration to grow the reach and impact of “Vismaya.”
